Tasnim Saeid

Tasnim Saeid is a Solicitor, Mediator and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. Tasnim holds a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Social Inquiry and a Masters of Law specialising in Family Law. Tasnim predominately practices in the areas of family law and domestic violence. She has a passion for providing holistic and multidisciplinary services to families in distress, with a focus on the best possible outcome for all parties involved.

Zebunissa Khan

Zebunissa is the Principal Psychologist at Lifestyle Psychology. Zebunnissa has been working in the area of mental health for over 15 years in Sydney, South Coast and Canberra. This has consisted of working with Rehabilitation Providers, Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), Workers Compensation, Community Mental Health projects and private practice. Zebunnissa is a Registered Psychologist with the Australian College of Applied Psychology and a member of the Australian Psychological Society.

Sheikh Ahmed Abdo

Sheikh Ahmed Abdo is a Sydney born Imam, a Scholar and a respected teacher of Islam. He currently serves as an Honorary Chaplain, teaches Islamic Law and Spirituality courses through Shifa Institute and QUL College which he founded to better inform people regarding the principles and teachings of Islam and how they apply in modern day society. Shifa Institute is a not for profit organisation based in Sydney with the motto: Healing Hearts – One at a Time. He is also President of the Council of Imams NSW, and serves as an Ambassador to the Linking Hearts Multicultural Family Support Service – helping to reduce and prevent family and domestic violence.

Hon Ed Husic MP

Hon Ed Husic is currently the Federal Member for Chifley and also the Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Communications and the Arts. Ed was elected the Federal Member for Chifley in 2010 and was re-elected for his fourth term at the 2019 Federal Election.

Since his election, Ed has held a number of positions, serving recently within Labor’s Shadow Ministry across a range of portfolios including Employment Services, Human Services, the Digital Economy and the Future of Work. Prior to this Ed was Parliamentary Secretary to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Parliamentary Secretary for Broadband.

Councillor Tony Bleasdale OAM

Councillor Tony Bleasdale is Mayor of Blacktown City Council. Mayor Bleasdale grew up in Liverpool, England and migrated to Australia at the age of 13. Councillor Bleasdale was first elected to Council in November 1996. He was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the Queen’s 2010 honours list for his service to the community as a supporter of charitable organisations, and for his contribution to local government in the Blacktown City area. Before becoming Managing Director of the major construction industry labour hire firm, National Contractors, Councillor Bleasdale was Group Industrial Relations Manager with the W McNamara Group and Assistant Secretary at the Building Workers Industrial Union (BWIU).

Volunteering with Flying Doctors service when she first got married to a doctor and stationed at Broken Hill, she has continued to support and help individuals and families. Firdousi was among the first Muslim women to get access to the detention centre in Villawood. There she helped refugee families, giving simple things like a phone card and food to later helping these families by providing them with furniture and other necessities when they were placed within the community. When she was approached to volunteer her services for the Women Support Centre project, she willingly agreed, and has been assisting women who come to the centre running from domestic violence or merely need some advice and referrals.
