Strengthening Digital Safety Through Community Education

Cyber Awareness Training Workshop – 18 June 2026 | Mount Druitt

As part of our ongoing commitment to empowering our community through education and practical skills, House of Sakinah proudly hosted another Cyber Awareness Training Workshop on 18 June 2026 in Mount Druitt.

Delivered in partnership with the Australian Government’s Act Now, Stay Secure campaign, the workshop focused on helping community members better understand how to protect themselves in an increasingly digital world.

Practical Steps for Staying Safe Online

The session provided attendees with simple yet effective strategies to improve their online security. Key topics included:

• Passphrases: Learning how to create strong, memorable passphrases that offer better protection than traditional passwords.
• Software Updates: Understanding why regularly updating devices and applications is essential for protecting against cyber threats.
• Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Exploring how adding an extra layer of security can significantly reduce the risk of unauthorised access to online accounts.

Participants gained practical knowledge they could immediately apply to their everyday digital activities, helping them stay safer online and protect their personal information.

Inclusive Resources for Our Diverse Community

Recognising the diversity of our community, information and educational materials were made available in multiple languages, ensuring that participants from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds could easily access and understand the important cyber safety messages being shared.
