A Meeting That Matters. A Community That Needs Action.

At House of Sakinah, every conversation we have is rooted in one goal β creating safer futures for vulnerable individuals and families in our community.
We were honoured to welcome Brad Bunting from Blacktown City Council to our Mount Druitt office for an important and meaningful discussion about the growing demand for safe refuge and support services across the Blacktown community.
Behind every statistic is a real person. A mother searching for safety. A family facing crisis. A woman seeking support with nowhere else to turn.
Every day, organisations like House of Sakinah witness the increasing need for crisis accommodation, culturally sensitive support services, and community-based care. Yet the heartbreaking reality remains β too many people are still being turned away due to limited shelter capacity and growing demand.
This meeting represented more than a visit. It was a vital step toward stronger collaboration, deeper understanding, and meaningful action to address the urgent challenges facing our community.
During the discussion, we shared the realities experienced on the ground, the barriers vulnerable individuals face when seeking help, and the critical importance of expanding accessible support services across the region.
We are grateful to Mayor Brad Bunting for taking the time to listen, engage, and stand alongside us as we continue advocating for those who need support the most.
Real change happens when communities, local leaders, and support organisations work together with compassion and purpose.
Together, we can build a safer, stronger future for everyone.
